DESIGNATED CENTER FOR BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT

San Antonio is among the elite group of hospitals in California to receive a Baby Friendly designation from the World Health Organization.

San Antonio Regional Hospital has always been committed to educating new mothers on the health benefits of breastfeeding. However, the hospital goes beyond education to provide additional support that helps new mothers achieve success in their choice to breastfeed. In recognition of this commitment, San Antonio is among the elite group of hospitals in California to receive a Baby Friendly designation from the World Health Organization. This achievement recognizes that San Antonio goes beyond supporting breastfeeding during the hospital stay; its Healthy Beginnings Newborn Feeding Center continues to support new families after discharge with one-on-one counseling and support groups provided by internationally certified lactation educators and consultants.
