San Antonio Regional Hospital has been recognized with the 2021 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for orthopedics, heart, stroke, and cancer. These evidence-based designations are the only awards that identify the country’s best healthcare institutions based on robust criteria that consider both clinical excellence and female patient satisfaction.

The Women’s Choice Award® for Heart Care signifies that San Antonio Regional Hospital is in the top 1% of 4,542 U.S. hospitals offering heart care services. San Antonio performed well clinically with regard to heart care measures but also had a high recommendation rate, which women have identified as a very important indicator when selecting a hospital. Recognized hospitals must offer at least six of the following services: cardiac catheterization laboratory, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac surgery, carotid stenting, coronary interventions, electrophysiology, vascular interventions, vascular surgery, and coronary intensive care (CCU). Hospitals are selected only if they perform well clinically with regard to heart care measures reported to Medicare, but also have a high Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) recommendation score. All data used to determine the award recipients is objective and evidence-based.
