• San Antonio Regional Hospital... Your award-winning acute-care hospital offers advanced medical care for residents throughout the Inland Empire region.

  • WCA Heart Care 2015

For the third consecutive year, San Antonio Regional Hospital has been named a recipient of the Women’s Choice Award® as one of 2016 America’s Best Hospitals for Heart Care. San Antonio is one of 353 hospitals nationwide and just two in the Inland Empire to qualify for this evidence-based designation.

The Women’s Choice Award is the only heart care award that identifies the country’s best healthcare institutions based on robust criteria that consider both clinical excellence and female patient satisfaction. San Antonio performed well clinically with regard to heart care measures, but also had a high recommendation rate, which women have identified as a very important indicator when selecting a hospital.

Women’s Choice determines the 2016 America’s Best Hospitals for Heart Care list by first identifying hospitals across the nation that offer a minimum number of cardiac and/or vascular services. Only hospitals that perform well clinically with regard to heart care measures reported to Medicare, and also have a high Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) recommendation score, are selected. All data used to determine the award recipients is completely objective and evidence-based. “Considering that heart disease is the number one killer of women across the country, helping women find the best in cardiac care is how we empower women to make the best healthcare choices for themselves and for their family,” says Delia Passi, CEO and Founder of the Women’s Choice Award.

    Breast Center of Excellence

The Women’s Breast & Imaging Center at San Antonio Regional Hospital has been awarded the “Breast Center of Excellence” distinction by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This distinction is considered ACR’s Gold Standard of Accreditation and indicates that the facility has met the highest level of imaging quality and radiation safety. This includes a rigorous review of personnel qualifications, equipment requirements, quality assurance, and quality control procedures. The ACR accreditation process is overseen by board-certified, expert radiologists and medical physicists in advanced diagnostic imaging. The ACR is the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the US and a professional organization of 34,000 physicians.

For almost a decade, San Antonio’s Women’s Breast & Imaging Center has been helping women screen for and find breast cancers early, when treatments are most effective. The hospital is committed to staying on the forefront of breast imaging technology, and recently installed the latest generation of 3D mammography equipment. 3D mammography is one of the most exciting new technologies in the fight against breast cancer. It allows doctors to examine breast tissue one layer at a time. 3D mammography uses high-powered computing to convert digital breast images into a stack of very thin layers or slices – building what is essentially a 3-dimensional mammogram.

    WCA Heart Care 2014

The hospital has received the Women’s Choice Award® from WomenCertified® distinguishing it as one of the 2014 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience in Heart Care. The award is based on criteria that include female patient satisfaction measurements as well as clinical excellence indicators. In fact, hospitals that do not meet the organization’s clinical excellence standards first and foremost are not considered for the award. WomenCertified® represents the collective voice of female consumers and is a trusted referral source for top businesses and brands that are identified as meeting the needs and preferences of women. Hospitals qualify for this highly selective annual list based on an in-depth proprietary scoring process. The scoring incorporates a national, standardized survey of patients’ perspective of hospital care reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) and an analysis that weighs criteria identified as the most important to women for patient satisfaction.

Hospitals were also screened based on clinical criteria. Hospitals that carry the Women’s Choice Award seal signify that they have met high standards with regard to women’s preferences, and the distinction allows women to make an informed decision about where to go for care for themselves or their family. “We are extremely pleased to have been recognized with the Women’s Choice Award for patient experience in Heart Care,” said Harris F. Koenig. “This recognition affirms our commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality cardiac care. We are proud to have some of the area’s best physicians and staff to help us achieve this goal.” This is the second time the hospital has earned a Women’s Choice Award.

    WCA Cancer Care 2014

Congratulations to all physicians, nurses, and other employees who care for our cancer patients. San Antonio has just been recognized as one of the 2014 America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care by the Women Certified organization. The Women’s Choice award identifies the very best cancer hospitals across the United States that are accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer and have received high recommendation ratings for patient satisfaction from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The award methodology includes clinical performance among hospitals with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hospice services, and/or major research programs.

The goal of the Women’s Choice Awards is to help women make smart healthcare decisions by identifying hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care to their patients, with a special focus on the female patient experience. Being recognized as a hospital of choice among women is an honorable achievement as women account for 90% of all healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.

This is the third Women’s Choice award that San Antonio has received. Earlier this year, the hospital was recognized as one of the 2014 America’s Best Hospitals for Heart Care and also for Orthopedic Care.

    WCA Orthopedics 2014

For the second time this year, San Antonio has earned a Women’s Choice Award®, distinguishing it as one of the 2014 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience. Earlier this year, the hospital was recognized for its outstanding heart care, and on April 30, 2014, WomenCertified® announced that San Antonio earned this prestigious award for Orthopedic Care for the second consecutive year.

To qualify for the Women’s Choice Award for Best Hospitals in Orthopedic Care, hospitals must provide comprehensive orthopedic services and a minimum number of arthroscopies, joint replacements, and spinal surgeries, as well as onsite MRI and physical therapy. Qualifying hospitals are then judged on their HCAHPS scores for patient recommendations and post-operative recovery, measures that are important to women when choosing a hospital.

Hospitals that carry the Women’s Choice Award seal signify that they have met high standards with regard to women’s preferences, and the distinction allows women to make an informed decision about where to go for care for themselves or their family. “We are honored to have been recognized for the second year with the Women’s Choice award for orthopedic care,” said Harris F. Koenig. “Our dedicated and outstanding orthopedic surgeons and clinical staff have helped us achieve this goal. They should be very proud.” Congratulations to all who care for our orthopedic patients.
