My name is Dr. Franklin Johnson. I'm an OBGYN at San Antonio Regional Hospital. I am the CEO of Blood Care for Women’s Medical Group, and I am the Chairman of the Department of OBGYN at San Antonio Regional Hospital. Women’s healthcare is very important, and it’s essential to collaborate with other physicians. Fortunately, in this area, we have oncologists, surgeons, urologists, and academic institutions near us, such as Loma Linda, UC Riverside, and UC Irvine. I always wanted to be in some type of medical profession that was dedicated to patients in need. For me, women's health was an obvious choice.
Another important aspect is that I think women don’t always prioritize their health because they’re so busy. They’re often working and taking care of their families, so they forget about their own health or don’t put it first. Our job is to make sure they understand how important it is to take care of themselves. We tell people all the time: if you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else. Things like having a child are life-changing experiences. To be part of that from the beginning is truly indescribable because of how special that moment is. Going into obstetrics and gynecology is really driven by the desire to be part of something impactful in someone’s life—something they will remember forever.
