    According to statistics, more than 29 million Americans have diabetes, but as many as 8 million may be undiagnosed and unaware of their condition. It is also estimated that 35% of adults over age 20 are considered pre-diabetic. Do you fall into that category? Join Dr. Rahda Reddy to learn about Metabolic Syndrome, a pre-diabetic condition that physicians are increasingly seeing in their patients. Dr. Reddy will discuss the risk factors for diabetes, and the link between diabetes and the risk for other medical issues. She will share important and simple lifestyle changes you can make to decrease your risk today.

    This class series covers cardiac risk factors, congestive heart failure education, and how to stay healthy through blood pressure management, stress management, and exercise. Call 909 944-9355 to reserve a spot. This class is FREE!

    HEARTSAVER CPR*†
    Designed for new and renewing CPR students, this class reviews CPR procedures as well as other basic first aid situations, pediatric emergencies, and the 911 system. This is a great class for anyone needing CPR Certification for work or volunteer opportunities!

    You need to call 909 944-9355 to reserve a spot. Class fee applies, which includes a manual and a 2 year certification card. (This class is NOT for people that work in the medical professions.)

    HEARTSAVER CPR & FIRST AID*†
    Designed for new and renewing CPR students, the class will review both CPR and general first aid procedures. Pediatric emergencies, medical and injury emergencies, and the 911 system will also be covered.

    Support for Patients with Cancer

    The Cancer Resource Center at San Antonio Regional Hospital extends support to anyone who may be going through a cancer diagnosis. The following support groups and activities are available to patients and their caregivers.

    BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
    Provides a safe, supportive environment in which participants can share their personal experiences and exchange thoughts and feelings with others. SECOND & FOURTH THURSDAYS OF EACH MONTH 11 AM - 12 PM


    CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
    For men and women experiencing any type of cancer. Provides a safe and supportive environment in which participants can share their personal experiences as well as thoughts on coping with their disease.
    THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM


    ORIENTATION CLASS FOR THE NEWLY DIAGNOSED
    For men and women with a new diagnosis of cancer. This class provides information on SARH resources for care, treatment, and support for you and your family. Meet our oncology nurse navigators and learn about resources in your local community that can help you manage your care.

    Provides support to those who are caregiving; sharing resources, experiences, and helpful tips.

    LOOK GOOD… FEEL BETTER
    Look Good Feel Better is a national program offered in partnership by the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, and the Professional Beauty Association/National Cosmetology Association. The Program will help enhance personal appearance for women undergoing cancer treatment. A free make-up kit is provided. This class will focus on all the ways you can look good and feel your best during your cancer journey – wigs, hats, scarves, make-up, clothing, skin and nail changes, nutrition, exercise, coping tips, etc.

    MOVE, MEASURE & MENTOR CLASS
    Learn post-operative exercises to help restore shoulder and arm movement and decrease side effects after breast surgery

    Stroller Strides

    Stroller Strides
    A national fitness program for moms with their babies. Join us in an outdoor park setting as certified instructors show you how to use resistance tubing and the stroller to get an all-over body workout in 60 minutes.
    Class is held every morning, Monday through Friday.

    MOM’S GROUP AT HEALTHY BEGINNINGS*
    For moms and their babies ages newborn to six months, this five-week course is designed to support new moms on their journey into parenting. Topics include maternal development (mom’s first year), baby’s milestones, cues and cries, baby’s personality, traits of a healthy family, and child safety.

    POSITIVE PARENTING AT HEALTHY BEGINNINGS*
    For families with children ages newborn to six years of age, this class is designed to help parents raise well-mannered, confident, and respectful children by creating good habits. Discipline strategies for common behavior issues will also be given.

    Family Education SIBLING CLASS*
    Children who are expecting a new brother or sister will learn about their mother’s pregnancy and what happens when she comes to the hospital. A tour of the Maternity Unit, refreshments, and a certificate are included.

    FAMILY & FRIENDS CPR*
    (INFANT/CHILD CPR)
    Learn how to perform CPR and help a choking infant or child. The life you save could be your child or grandchild. This is a great class for babysitters too! Classes held in the Healkthy Beginings Center, 1175 E. Arrow Hwy., (1 block south from San Antonio Regional Hospital)

    DIABETES & PRE-DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT*
    Diabetes management can be challenging, but can be made easier with the right tools. This class will cover survival skills for diabetes, nutrition, meal planning, and glucose meter usage.

    SAFE SITTER

    Designed for 11 to 13-year olds, this medically accurate babysitting preparation program teaches students rescue skills, basic first aid, nurturing, safe child care, and personal safety. This is a two-day class series.*
