    The Cancer Resource Center at San Antonio Regional Hospital extends support to anyone who may be going through a cancer diagnosis. The following support groups and activities are available to patients and their caregivers.

    Provides a safe, supportive environment in which participants can share their personal experiences and exchange thoughts and feelings with others. SECOND & FOURTH THURSDAYS OF EACH MONTH 11 AM - 12 PM


    CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
    For men and women experiencing any type of cancer. Provides a safe and supportive environment in which participants can share their personal experiences as well as thoughts on coping with their disease.
    THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM


    CANCER CAREGIVERS
    Provides support to those who are caregiving; sharing resources, experiences, and helpful tips.

    PILATES FOR CANCER HEALTH
    Helps cancer patients improve their general well-being.

    LOOK GOOD… FEEL BETTER
    Look Good Feel Better is a national program offered in partnership by the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, and the Professional Beauty Association/National Cosmetology Association. The Program will help enhance personal appearance for women undergoing cancer treatment. A free make-up kit is provided. This class will focus on all the ways you can look good and feel your best during your cancer journey – wigs, hats, scarves, make-up, clothing, skin and nail changes, nutrition, exercise, coping tips, etc.

    ONCOLOGY NUTRITION CLASS
    This class explores dietary issues related to reducing the risk of cancer, eating during cancer treatment, and nutrition for cancer survivors.

Topics include maternal development (mom’s first year), baby’s milestones, cues and cries, baby’s personality, traits of a healthy family, and child safety.

    POSITIVE PARENTING AT HEALTHY BEGINNINGS*
    For families with children ages newborn to six years of age, this class is designed to help parents raise well-mannered, confident, and respectful children by creating good habits. Discipline strategies for common behavior issues will also be given.

    FIT4BABY PRENATAL EXERCISE*
    Fit4Baby is an exercise program for moms-to-be. The exercises are carefully selected to prepare your body for the changes you will experience during your pregnancy. Cardio, strength, balance and flexibility training are included. 5-week session. 60-minute workout per session.

    Family Education SIBLING CLASS*
    Children who are expecting a new brother or sister will learn about their mother’s pregnancy and what happens when she comes to the hospital. A tour of the Maternity Unit, refreshments, and a certificate are included. Held in West Wing 1.

    Diabetes management can be challenging, but can be made easier with the right tools. This class will cover survival skills for diabetes, nutrition, meal planning, and glucose meter usage.

    SAFE SITTER Designed for 11 to 13-year olds, this medically accurate babysitting preparation program teaches students rescue skills, basic first aid, nurturing, safe child care, and personal safety. This is a two-day class series.*
