Laboratory
Clinical Laboratory Services at San Antonio Regional Hospital serve those who are hospitalized, referred by their physician, and those who are receiving home care. The laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day with state-licensed and certified clinical
laboratory and pathology health care professionals under the direction of the laboratory medical director. The laboratory works with medical staff and other departments in the diagnosis and treatment of patients through technical analysis of specimens.
Our full-service clinical laboratory also offers blood bank and pathology services.
Accreditation and Our Team
The College of American Pathologists, The Joint Commission, the State of California's Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services accredit and regulate and ensure compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement
Amendment (CLIA) guidelines.
The medical director is certified in both anatomical and clinical pathology. Staff pathologists are board certified by the American Board of Pathology and provide consultation services to referring physicians. Technical team members performing
moderate and highly complex testing are licensed by the State of California as clinical laboratory scientists. Care team members drawing blood are certified phlebotomists.

Reaching Out
The laboratory offers home blood draws for homebound patients. We also perform lab work at local skilled nursing facilities to promote continuity of care for patients who are transferred from San Antonio to these facilities. For more information or assistance,
