Omnicell

Omnicell, an automated medication dispensing system, is one of the most important pharmaceutical technologies at San Antonio. It allows the hospital pharmacy to securely store and track medications while reducing potential errors and improving the quality of care. Once a physician enters an order into the hospital’s electronic patient record, the request is directly sent to a pharmacist for verification of appropriateness for the patient. This process generates a quick turnover, but more importantly a level of security for our patients. It ensures that the correct medication is being administrated to them while also taking into consideration any allergies or drug interactions the patient may have.
