Jerlys Suarez Lopez, MD
Jerlys Suarez Lopez, MD, is an Internal Medicine resident physician at San Antonio Regional Hospital in Upland, California, and a member of the program’s inaugural residency class. Originally from Cuba, Dr. Suarez Lopez earned his medical degree from the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey. He began his career practicing as a primary care physician in Cuba and Venezuela, where he developed a strong commitment to caring for underserved and diverse patient populations. After relocating to the United States, his medical journey continued through several roles in healthcare, including
medical assistant, registered nurse, and family nurse practitioner, experiences that have given him a broad, patient-centered perspective and a deep appreciation for multidisciplinary care.
Dr. Suarez Lopez discovered his passion for Internal Medicine during his third-year medical school rotation, where he was drawn to the specialty’s emphasis on diagnostic reasoning, continuity of care, and long-term patient relationships. He values the opportunity Internal Medicine provides to manage complex medical conditions while building meaningful connections with patients over time. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and strives to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care. Outside of medicine, Dr. Suarez Lopez enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and staying active through regular workouts.
