San Antonio Regional Hospital NICU Reunion 2025

Over 800 NICU Families Return to San Antonio Regional Hospital for “Land of Oz” Reunion

UPLAND, CA, November 6, 2025  — There was no place like San Antonio Regional Hospital on October 31, when more than 800 guests - former NICU patients and their families -  returned  for a heartwarming “Land of Oz” reunion and Halloween celebration.

The event brought together hospital staff and families from the past decade of NICU graduates, many dressed in creative costumes to match the whimsical theme.  Guests followed the yellow brick road into Aita Auditorium, which had been completely transformed into the magical world of Oz.  Fifteen hospital departments joined in the fun, decorating booths inspired by scenes from the classic movie—and they went all out!

Children and parents trick-or-treated their way through the colorful displays, posed for photos with Wizard of Oz characters (portrayed by the hospital’s Executive Management Group), and reconnected with the caregivers who helped give their little ones such a strong start.

John Chapman“The NICU experience can be one of the most challenging times for families. This reunion celebrates the incredible progress of these children and the special bond shared between families and their care teams.”
— John Chapman, President & CEO (and “Oz” for the day)

The community response was overwhelmingly positive, and San Antonio looks forward to hosting another reunion next year—continuing to celebrate the resilience, hope, and milestones of its smallest patients who remind us that there truly is no place like home.
