LEAF Award – February 2026

Byron joined San Antonio with an extensive background in security and protection. Although new to the healthcare environment, his peers can confirm that Byron has adapted and thrived! He was nominated for our LEAF award by a fellow care team member who shared: “I would like to formally recognize our ER security guard Byron for his exceptional dedication, responsiveness, and genuine care for staff safety. His presence alone brings a sense of reassurance during high-stress moments. He is always vigilent, proactive, and attentive to what is happening on the unit--never minimizing concerns or making staff feel that they are ‘overreacting.’ What truly sets him apart is not just how quickly he responds, but the way he consistently shows that staff safety is his top priority. It is clear that he takes his role seriously and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of the nurses and team he works alongside.”
