Congratulations! You and your surgeon have made the decision to have a joint replacement. Through education, preparedness and coordination, we can help you achieve the best possible outcome. Our goal is to prepare you and your family for your surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation. This is a team effort between you, your coach, your surgeon, and your care team at the hospital.

With over 30 years of experience, Nurse Navigator Janet Block RN, BSN, ONC has dedicated her entire nursing career to orthopedics and will help guide you through the process. Joint replacement is now performed as outpatient surgery and we are here to help coordinate details and preparations so the process runs smoothly.

It is essential that you watch our pre-surgery video. This video is a requirement to your surgery. The video will answer most of your questions. Janet or your surgeon will answer any remaining questions. Your surgery is subject to cancellation if not watched. There are no graphic images in the video.

Joint Replacement Pre-Op Class

Our Total Joint Replacement pre-op class taught by our Orthopedic Nurse Navigator, as well as a Physical Therapist, explains what to expect before, during and after surgery, and answers any questions you may have.

You’ll also learn about:
  • Pre-op exercises
  • Pain management
  • Physical therapy
  • Precautions and limitations following surgery
  • What’s needed once you go home

    English classes are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month and Spanish classes are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. All classes are from 9:45 am to 12:00 pm. Registration is required; please call Janet Block, Orthopedic Nurse Navigator to register once you have been scheduled for surgery by your orthopedic surgeon.
