Akash Shah, MD, is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Hip and Knee reconstruction. Dr. Akash Shah graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Boston University. He was granted early acceptance into Medical School and completed his Medical Degree and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Boston University Medical Center. After his training, Dr. Shah returned to his home state of New York and completed an additional year of fellowship subspecialty training in hip and knee reconstruction at the Insall-Scott-Kelly Institute at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in Manhattan.

As an Orthopaedic Surgeon with Arrowhead Orthopaedics, Dr. Shah specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and urgent procedures for hip and knee fractures. He is interested in minimally invasive techniques, rapid recovery protocols, computer-navigated surgery, and robotic surgery.

One of the procedures Dr. Shah performs is the anterior approach total hip replacement. This surgery is minimally invasive, which helps restore a person’s hip function as quickly as possible. Same-day outpatient procedures for anterior approach total hip replacement, which use innovative tissue-sparing and pain management techniques, allow patients to be discharged the same day of surgery and recover comfortably in their own homes.
Dr. Shah's highest priority is for his patients to feel comfortable putting their utmost trust in him to tailor a treatment plan based on their needs. He strives to ensure his patients understand exactly what is going on with their bodies to be actively part of their treatment journey. In addition, he believes that his patients deserve individualized attention to achieve the best results.

He enjoys spending time with his fiancé Yogini, playing tennis, golfing, bike riding, running, and traveling in his free time.
