Anna Mikami, DO

Anna Mikami is a Transitional Year resident at San Antonio Regional Hospital applying for General Surgery. She attended Oregon State University, where she majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minored in Chemistry. Before medical school, she worked as an emergency department medical scribe, a colorectal surgery scribe, a caregiver, and a CNA, experiences that strengthened her interest in patient care and medicine.

She went on to attend Western University of Health Sciences COMP-NW for medical school and Claremont Graduate University for her MPH. She chose to complete her final two years of medical school in Bakersfield, California, because she wanted the opportunity to care for underserved communities and broaden her understanding of medicine in different parts of the United States.

Serving underserved populations remains one of her greatest career goals and is something she hopes to continue throughout her life by helping improve access to medical care and the quality of care for all people. She believes medicine is one of the strongest things that connects us as humans, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to be healthy.

Her long-term goal is to become a General Surgeon, and she is grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as a physician at San Antonio Regional Hospital while serving the people of the surrounding community.

In her free time, Anna enjoys cooking and baking, playing tennis, hot yoga, painting, refurbishing furniture, hiking, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
